Rigid Chain vise on automatic hone

A chain vise can be supplied as an option to secure your tube for honing. Our standard is a 8” chain vise.

borazon stones are a synthetic diamond compound for long stone life and fast stock removal

MS&D can significantly increase your honing production with the use of Borazon stones.  Borazon is a General Electric synthetic diamond bonded into a metallic matrix.

MSD-H-40, 60/80, 280, 400

We manufacture a set of stones that fit into Sunnen ARN master holders. Borazon outlasts aluminum oxide stone by more than 100 times.

We produce sets of 40, 60-80 grit stones for heavy material removal and sets of 280 & 400 grit stones for finishing.  (All stone sets are sold in sets of 4)

With a 4 stone configuration you can halve your honing time and eliminate frequent stone changes.

non marring nylon vee's support tubing without damaging the surface finish of the part MSD-H-V  An option is to use a non-marring nylon “V” to support one end of the tube being honed. The “V” can be easily secured at any point along the length of the tube end of the hone.
magnetic pickup to capture steel filings from the honing process before they get into the hone oil tank

MSD-H-M  This fixture sets in the honing oil tank. The returning oil runs under the fixture and the magnet pulls the ferrous material out of the oil.

(Simple pull of the release handle releases the ferrous material for disposal.)

remote jog pendant for faster setup of the travel stops

MSD-H-R  (remote cable)

Cable and switch for remotely jogging the honing head during set-up to accurately positioning magnetic stops.

The cable is connected to a receptacle provided on the control panel to remotely activate the carriage traverse.

rpm gage measures flow through the spindle drive motor and converts it to rpm of the spindle

MSD-H-F  (head RPM /flow)

A specially calibrated “Hedland” flow meter can act as a simple tachometer for rotational speed.

abrasive pads velco to modified masdter holder sets to quickly finish polishing tubes after they have been honed to size MSD-H-PAL  After honing a cylinder bore to size, it is often difficult to reach a good finish with honing stones. Machinery Service & Design has developed a new and simple approach to this problem. We start with a set of standard “Sunnen” key way stones; remove the stone material and cover the holder face with a “Velcro” type material. This can be done for all size range. We use “3M” abrasive pads cut to size and bonded to a mating “Velcro” material. The abrasive pads will now hold firmly in place but can be easily removed and replaced.
