traverse motor

The polishing head is driven the length of the fixture by a variable speed D.C. motor. A rack and pinion system is used for smooth traversing of the carriage.

idler and drive rollers supported by pillow blocks Two sets of rubber rollers are used to rotate the shaft. A gear motor drives one set while the idler set is easily adjusted to accommodate shaft diameters from 1” to 14”.
aluminum tube supports the carriage and polishing head The carriage rides on two extruded aluminum supports bolted to the polisher frame. The "80-20" brand aluminum is durable and easy to replace.
limit switch to control reversal of the traverse The polishing head can be moved manually or automatically. Magnetic stops are easily placed and are used to reverse the polishing head. Built-in time delay relays provide dwell adjusted to accommodate rods with uneven chrome build-up.
polishing head can be tilted or placed in many configurations for special jobs Polishing head can be tilted to put chamfers at the ends of  tubes and shafts.
polishing head removes stock evenly During the polishing process the material is removed evenly over the entire length.
positioning the head to remove high spots The polishing head can be fixed in position with the polishing wheel directly over the work piece, allowing you to remove high spots caused by weld repairs or other defects.
